DMAIC – The IMPROVE Phase

DMAIC is the methodology used to eliminate and control non value added waste. It describes the overarching principles in Lean project management and consists of 5 phases: Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control.

This sketchnote looks at the fourth and penultimate DMAIC phase : IMPROVE

This is the phase where you can introduce changes and implement solutions.

You can reorganise your work processes to reduce waste time by implementing the following procedures/systems:

  1. The 5 S process – Sort, Set in order(Straighten), Shine, Standardise and Sustain
  2. Standardised Work Processes
  3. Pull and Kanban systems
  4. Poka-Yoke systems (Mistake-prooofing all work processes).

My next sketchnote will be the last DMAIC phase : CONTROL
